Oakwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery Policies and Regulations
The following policies and regulations govern the operation of Oakwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery (OUMGC). These guidelines have been established to promote clarity, maintain order, and ensure the respectful management of the cemetery grounds. All regulations are designed with the safety of visitors and staff in mind, as well as to support the proper care and maintenance of the cemetery. Oakwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery reserves the right to amend, modify, or add to these policies and regulations at any time without prior notice.
- Please drive slowly while in the cemetery. 15MPH please. No driving throughout the cemetery or on grass.
- Pets are not allowed in the cemetery.
- Loud music, boisterousness, or picnicking at the gravesites is not allowed.
- Visiting hours are from 7:00 am until 15 minutes before sunset.
- Any faded, damaged, or aged flowers may be removed without prior notice given.
- Permanent planting is not permitted at gravesites.
- The use of plastic “banisters,” or any similar structures is strictly prohibited. Additionally, grave coverings, large decorative items, and personal belongings such as photographs are not permitted. Any prohibited items placed on cemetery grounds will be removed by cemetery staff.
- The use of enclosures or borders around burial plots including, but not limited to, fencing, rocks, stone, gravel, wood, mulch, hedging, pin wheel, dividers, wooden crosses, or similar materials is strictly prohibited. Any such items placed around the plots will be removed by cemetery staff.
- Personal items are not allowed on grave plots, such as toys, statues, and stand-up decorations, glassware, or anything breakable, wind chimes. OUMGC reserves the right to remove any decorations for routine maintenance.
- Benches are not allowed next to plots but can be placed as a headstone (subject to approval). Planting of trees, shrubs are prohibited. Flowers container must be placed at the head close to headstone.
- Each section of OMGC has specific regulations unique to that section regarding style of headstone permitted. Please check with OMGC management under any circumstances.
- All monuments (headstone) are the private property of the plot owner, OMGC is not responsible for the care, maintenance, or repair of monuments under any circumstances.
- All monuments (headstones) must be constructed of granite, marble, or bronze. Monuments must be purchased through an OUMGC-authorized monument company or receive prior approval from cemetery management before installation. For monuments purchased through an outside authorized monument company, all applicable installation fees must be paid in full prior to installation. We always deserve the right to determine the kind of design, size, symbolism, crafting quality and material place in the cemetery.
- Only one monument marker is allowed for each grave space. Staff must be present at the time of installation.
- No full-length burial slabs or other burial covers are permitted.
- Should any memorial become unsightly, dilapidated, illegible or a menace to visitors, or not in compliance with this regulation. OMGC shall have the right to remove the same at the expense of the owners.
- Design and installation of veteran markers must conform to cemetery regulation.
- Personal markers/Flag post are not permitted. Flags used as decorations must not exceed 12-16 inches.
- OUMGC is not responsible for any loss or decorations or arrangements for any reason.
